CENTENNIAL—Senator Linda Newell (D-Littleton) is hosting two town halls to encourage her community to engage in our representative democracy and learn how the Colorado State Legislature works. Topics to be discussed include:
• How the State Legislature works • Secrets to citizen lobbying • How a bill becomes a law • Q & A about the 2012 legislative session
Senator Newell is a strong advocate for getting citizens involved in the legislative process and has worked on many citizen advocacy campaigns including the Colorado Citizens Lobby. Senator Newell offered the following comment:
“To best serve you, I want to make sure you are connected to the legislative process and know how to get involved with issues that affect you. In fact, some of the best legislation that I’ve passed has come from constituents.”
