Economic Development Council of Colorado presents Sen. Heath with Legislator of the Year Award
DENVER— State Senator Rollie Heath (D-Boulder) was awarded legislator of the year by the Economic Development Council of Colorado. President Brandon Shaffer (D-Longmont) presented the award to Senator Heath on Thursday. Sen. Heath, who has an extensive background in economic development and business growth, is the current chair of the Long Term Fiscal Stability Committee and used to be the vice president for a division of Armco Steel. In addition, Sen. Heath served on the Joint Select Committee on Job Creation and Economic Growth and was the Vice-Chair of the Senate’s Business, Labor, and Technology Committee last session.
According to Danny Tomlinson of the Economic Development Council of Colorado, “Senator Heath has demonstrated tremendous support for economic development initiatives and primary industry during this past legislative session. In addition, he has been very interactive with his constituents, regularly holding town hall meetings and seeking feedback on specific topics, and continues to be a strong supporter of economic development and vitality in his district and throughout the state.”
Sen. Heath has sponsored and co-sponsored several bills that have directly impacted the state’s economic vitality. Some of these bills include creating grants for clean technology, providing technical and career instruction to higher education students, as well as co-sponsoring the Colorado Credit Reserve Program. This program alone is already leveraging over $400,000 in small business lending, and is supporting hundreds of jobs throughout Colorado.
